ABOUT MURPHYS FIRST CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH

First Congregational Church is a congregation of the Northern California Nevada Conference of the United Church of Christ. As a member church of that denomination, we are self-governing, with a deep sense of responsibility to minister to our own people, the community and the world.

We are a diverse group of Christian people who in most instances have moved here from many different places. Young, old, and in-between, there is a high degree of diversity in our congregation, welcoming persons of many different church backgrounds and ideas about God. We subscribe to the idea of "in essentials - unity, in non-essentials - liberty, in all things - charity." This allows an atmosphere where we can all grow together spiritually.

We strive to be a friendly, caring church where people can come to seek and find the love of God amid a community of neighbors and friends.

LOCATING US

We are located in the center of the historic gold mining town of Murphys, California, at the corner of Algiers and Church Streets, just one block east of Main St.

Murphys is just up Highway 4 from Angels Camp, one hour's drive from the San Joaquin Valley town of Stockton, and 2 hours from the San Francisco Bay Area. Click here for a map of Northern California, showing the location of the town of Murphys.
